Like in the rest of the world of advertising, adverts in Facebook are not free, but if deployed correctly they can help you gain more followers and promote your products or services to the right people.
When considering an advertising campaign there are a large number of variables to think about. First, you need to know what you are selling, why and what message you want to convey to your potential customers. It is not for this book to discuss these elements.
You also want to know whom the advert will reach. For example, you can get good statistics about who views which television programs and at what times. Top rated shows draw in millions of viewers, as seen in the introduction, Facebook has a potential pool of a billion viewers for your advert. The important things to consider are, whom do you want to advertise too? For how long? In addition, how much can you afford to spend?
Facebook allows you to target specific groups of people within the site. For example, if you are local to a city like Chicago, then you can target your adverts to users from Chicago and its surrounding areas. If you are based in America, but do most of your business in say Guatemala, then again you can target your adverts towards Guatemalans.
